Tennis balls

1 Mar

For some time I have been thinking what to do with some old tennis balls that aren’t performing any more….. in the end I decided to make a couple of cordwrap. The most difficult part was to skin the ball, then I added a snap button and it was done.

I really like my new cordwraps and now I’m studying some other uses for recycled tennis balls….

A first time

28 Feb

This is my very first crocheted sweater ever. Last Autumn I bought this lovely wool at my local market and I wanted to make something with it rather than the usual scarf. So I searched the web and I found an easy pattern on Pinterest and started from there.

The beginning was a bit rough as I didn’t have a clear idea of the measures. Then I didn’t consider it should be fitting a woman bust…. so I have undone it a couple of time before finding the right way.

It’s not perfect but I made it myself, and I like it!

A bit late

26 Feb

Perhaps I am a bit too late to post these two craftworks I made for this past Christmas, but since I think they are cute I’ll give it a go nonetheless.

Here is some decorative packaging: the first one has been made with a stamp handcarved by me. It contained a little “survival kit” for blue days (a special teabag and some typical Italian sweets).

The second one is just a parcel with an unusual bow decoration and a hand printed tag also made by me.

Another birthday gift

24 Feb

This necklace is a birthday gift for a friend. I used gold tinted chain and rosary style chain made with Chalcedony chips. I added a gold spacer and a pearl as a pendant and I interspersed the chains with red ruby agate beads.

You are Gold!

22 Feb

I have recently been asked to make a necklace for a lady who loves flashy accessories. I have a totally different style so it was a bit difficult to find a reasonable compromise. I also find  it difficult to mix and match the right stones, especially the big ones, but this time I think the result is quite nice.

I used some black chrystal and glass beads of different shapes and dimensions, some black and white tinted jade beads and few light blue oval agate beads. And, of course, plenty of gold toned spacers.

PS the stamped tag is also made by me…. (see a previous post here).

Earrings for me

20 Feb

Just a couple of cute earrings that I made for myself. I don’t like big flashy earrings and I always prefer a simple design. These are made with a white glass bead, two golden brass disks, a purple chrystal and, of coruse, some brass wire.

Chrystal power

19 Feb

I never fail to come back with some inspirations from my holidays in Fuerteventura, as the craft-market is very lively there, and there are plenty of wonderful craftsmen and craftswomen making beautiful things.

This necklace has been inspired by one of those craftswomen…. Chrystal stone and macramè technique.

Cute little flowers

16 Feb

I made these cute little crochet flower brooches as a gift for some friends in Fuerteventura, where I went for a week holiday last September. I enjoyed making them: a little present for special people.

Whale

For my birthday I got some carving tools. Carving, but mostly linocut, is something I’d like to learn more of. At present I’m still practising with easy pattern/drawings…..

Lazy midsummer Sunday afternoon

23 Jul

On a lazy midsummer Sunday afternoon I decided to learn a new technique: Kumihimo.

“Kumihimo (組み紐) is a Japanese form of braid-making. Cords and ribbons are made by interlacing strands. Kumi himo is Japanese for “gathered threads”.

Since I don’t have a professional Kumihimo disc I cut one out of cardboard and used 7 threads. You actually can use up to 24 bobbins.

The result is this colourful bracelet….
