7 May

Last Friday I bought a bouquet to brighten up my home and bring some Spring colours in. This bouquet is composed of a couple of fuchsia roses, a fuchsia gerbera daisy, a bunch of small white chrysanthemums, a lot of ferns and other green “stuff” among which there were these green odd-shaped things that I really hadn’t the idea of what they were… until yesterday….. when I got home from work I found this lovely surprise….

This little “adventure” made me realise how ignorant I am about flowers….

The first glimpse of Spring….

After endless days of rain, the cherry tree in the courtyard of my office building decided that it was time for Spring! 🙂

Summer Project #4

28 Aug

Summer hasn’t finished yet nor August, so here I am with another of my summer projects. This is a bracelet with huge beads. Ok, I only had to thread the huge beads and put a catch, but nonetheless it required some time… ok, it wasn’t all that time afterall…

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did.

Tanabata, 七夕, meaning “Evening of the seventh”, is a Japanese star festival, originating from the Chinese Qixi Festival. It celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi (represented by the stars Vega and Altair respectively). According to legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar.

It’s said that your wishes will come true if you write them down on strips of paper called tanzaku and hang them on bamboo branches. (read more)

Easter Onigiri

26 Apr

I finally had some spare time for myself last weekend and I managed to use the rice-cooker I’ve been given for Christmas (!!!). In the picture is an example of the result of my efforts (some maki were also produced but the result  here is arguable…):

Spring has sprung

22 Mar

Spring has sprung in my kitchen too, with this lovely “pain marguerite” that I bought at the annual French Market held in my hometown last weekend. The boulangerie is the most visited stand of the whole market. No wonder….
