Versatile Blogger Award!

30 Jan

Today my little blog has been nominated for the “Versatile Blogger Award” by the lovely Hali, from Softwearhacks.

This is my first nomination ever and I’m very excited and, of course, honoured.

As I’m not familiar with this kind of things, I’m also very gratful that Hali took her time to write the rules… 😀

versatile-bloggerThe Rules:

1. Link the person who nominated you.

2. List 7 facts about yourself.

3. Nominate 15 other blogs!

My 7 Facts:

1. I am European, of Italian nationality

2. my passion for crafts dates back to my childhood when I was used to handsew clothes for my Barbie doll. I couldn’t afford to buy many so I made them myself.

3. as a child I wanted to become an astronomer, and later a journalist. I haven’t fullfilled my dream of becoming an astronomer but I’m still gazing at the stars, and as for the journalist… I have been published few articles but it never became my profession… but I’m a blogger though! 🙂

4. I’m “versatile” also in sports: I play tennis and I do yoga, and I used to play rugby and judo in my younger days.

5. when I see something that I like, I look at it carefully trying to find out if I can reproduce it. 🙂

6. I love Japan and I’m trying to learn Japanese in my free time.

7. I might be Italian but I don’t drink coffee.. I take tea, my dear!

Double gift

1 Jan

My friend Paola last year deserved more than one gift for being very kind and supportive. So, for Christmas I made her also this eye mask hoping that it will help her to relax.

Gloomy Monday bracelet

27 Oct

I know it’s been a while since my last post….  no excuses,  I just have been a bit lazy lately but finally last weekend I found new inspiration and I came up with this bracelet.
It is made with a silver chain, some silver beads and some coloured waxed cotton threads.
I also added a little kitty charm that could easily become my new trademark… another one!

I’m a bit hesitant to find my ultimate trademark….

Anyway, I needed some colours in this gloomy Autumn Monday, and here it is:

Good day

12 Mar

On a good day, Fernando Verdasco can match anybody, and on a good day he’s such a great and enjoyable player to watch.

Thankfully yesterday, as he played Richard Gasquet  in the third round of the Indian Wells Master1000 Tournament, it was a good day!

So, we had the chance to see some of his famous fast and furious forehands along with some other very muscular shots, but most of all we had a glimpse of his talent.

In the past few years he forgot that he can play this tennis, but the shots are still there….  so, let’s hope for many other good days like this for him.

Miyazaki’s girls

8 Mar

Celebrating the International Women’s Day with Hayao Miyazaki’s heroines.

Many of my movies have strong female leads – brave, self-sufficient girls that don’t think twice about fighting for what they believe in with all their heart.
They’ll need a friend, or a supporter, but never a savior.
Any woman is just as capable of being a hero as any man.

Snake scarf

14 Jan

Here is a scarf I made for Paola as Christmas gift. I used the same wool as the one for her daughter Marta’s, so to have a mother-daughter matching scarves. 🙂 Because of all its spirals it reminds me of a snake! It took me quite a while to crochet and the result is a bit funny.

Orange and Purple

12 Mar

With this new project I’m back to beding. Once again the inpsiration comes from a lovely necklace that saw in the window of one of my favourite shop in Milan city center. It was far too expensive for my pocket, so I reproduced it obviously with some changes mainly due to different material. For this necklace and earings I used some golden wire along with amethyst, purple agate, orange cat’s eye and crackle glass beads. The final result is quite far from the original but I’m pretty satisfied anyway. I particularly like how the earings came out.

Something different

25 Feb

For a change, this time, we have something culinary here! As a matter of fact, last Saturday, I’ve been invited at my friend’s Paola for a light dinner (actually an “aperitivo“) for girls and I decided to contribute to the menu with these pretzels.

It was my first time making pretzels and, despite their shape is far from being perfect and that they don’t look exactly inviting, they were quite good, or at least this is what my friends said. I actually quite enjoyed them and I think I’ll make them again… since I have some brewer’s yeast left and I wouldn’t know what to do with it otherwise!! 🙂

Please welcome Red Panda

9 Nov

I normally don’t celebrate my name day, but since it is one day before my friend Simona’s name day (and she usually celebrates it) I made her this Chan Luu bracelet, with glass transparent and iridescent beads and an aviation blue leather string.

I also took this chance to make my “name brand” debut: “the Red Panda” or either “the Other Panda”… I haven’t decided yet.

Anyway, the sticker also sports a kanji which stands for the Japanese translation of my name. 🙂

My “brand”: the Red Panda
