Doily fever

13 Aug

I’ve been definitely mesmerized by Zooty Owl’s doily patterns: they are lovely and easy, and the tutorials couldn’t be clearer. So, here is another doily I finished crocheting yesterday…..

Merry Christmas

23 Dec

Every year I make a decoration for my Christmas tree. This year, since I hadn’t much time left due to my Little Santa Helper‘s job I decided to make this cute little crocheted star.

So, here are my best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone out there….

Christmas coasters

12 Nov

As Christmas is approaching, I’m already working to prepare gifts for friends and relatives. Actually, this year I decided to make most of the Christmas presents myself and hopefully the recipients will appreciate them…

One of the projects consists in these lovely red and white coasters I made thanks to the tutorial of a fellow kiwi crafter who’s not only very talented but also very good at making tutorials. 🙂

So, who will be the “happy” recepient of these coasters?….. mmmmm……..

The grey infinity bracelet

11 Nov

Last week, my colleague Enza found out about my blog and saw the “infinity bracelet” I made for a friend. Since her daughter is very fond of this symbol, she asked me to make one for her too. She preferred it to be grey or brown and I thought that perhaps gray was more elegant. So I made this one, which differs from the other because of the thinner string. In this case I decided to use the macramè tecnique instead.

On the background is another project… cotton crocheted coasters… wait for more. 😉

Easter gifts

25 Mar

Here are two fabric cases – cosmetic cases, that I made for my friends as Easter gifts.

The outer fabric is from Ikea, while the lining is a reminder I bought at my local market. Despite the fabric is the same, I tried to match the stripes with the colour of the zip (one beige and the other pink).

It was my first attempt with a lined item, so I can say that I’m pretty satisfied and most of all, learning the lining process has opened a whole new world in front of me… 🙂

BTW, for a more Easter touch I filled the cases with some fine chocolate eggs…

The fixed thought diversion

14 Feb

What do you do when you have to distract your mind from a fixed thought? Easy answer: you keep yourself busy. So, here is how I kept myself busy yesterday evening… upcycling another jar, adding some crocheted blue cotton border and a white ribbon…

Candlelight

31 Jan

As I was practising with my crochet I hit on a shell edging tutorial and  decided to give it a try.

I also had a couple of glass jam jars that I was reluctant to throw away (read “recycle”), so it came to my mind that I could upcycle them adding a nice edging and transforming them into candle-holders.

Using some cotton yarn that I already had I first made the red edging and then, when I felt more confident and adventurous, I crocheted the white/red one. 🙂

Bathroom mat

7 Jan

During these Christmas holidays I’ve been particularly active… I had some time off  and felt a bit inspired, so I’ve been working a lot both with beads and crochet. I even made a mat for my bathroom.

My mother had this bulky weight cotton yarn left unused in a closet and I decided to confiscate it and give it some “life”. I made a mat out of it, without following a pattern, that’s why it’s not exactly perfect but I’m very proud of it anyway. 🙂
