Christmas collection 2: mother and daughter

2 Jan

Here are some other Xmas gifts I made for my friend Paola and her 10 years old daughter Marta. The mother’s gift is a parure of bracelet and earings. The bracelet is made with the same technic as those in my previous post, with golden wire, half-crystals pale pink beads and an oval jade stone. The earings are made with green jade stone and pink beads too.

The daughter’s gift is also a parure of bracelet and earings, but in this one we have a combination of a black plastic rose with fuchsia pearls and pink glass beads on a elastic string and a little chain with charms. The earings are also made with the same materials.

Howl’s earings

26 Nov

I am a huge admirer of Miyazaki Hayao‘s works. I love all of his anime, they just transmit me hope and peace and they are of huge comfort especially in dark and rainy days. As yesterday was just one of those dark and rainy days I decided to cheer me up watching for the umpteenth time “Howl’s Moving Castle”- ハウルの動く城.

And while watching I decided to make a replica of Howl’s earings, hoping that they’ll bring a bit of his magic in my life too.

I used jade stones and red crystal beads.

Pink Quartz

17 Oct

What to do when you only have two quartz stones?

Mmmmm… I thought about it and since I really didn’t want to make just a pair of earings I decided to mix them with some glass beads of different colours and shapes and make a bracelet out of it. Here is the result paired with some earings too.

Pink quartz and glass beads

mixing stones and glass

Yesterday evening, after a very enjoyable afternoon with my girl friends in which we made a macramè bracelet and we had a lovely jasmine tea with an equally lovely cake, I came up with these clusters earings made with jade stones and pink glass beads. I felt that, after having helped my friend Paola and her 10 years old daughter Marta, to make their first macramè bracelet, I also wanted to make something myself.

I’m not exactly satisfied with the result, and the technique is a bit rough too, but I wanted to try something new. I’m not sure what it is but perhaps it is the combination of jade and pink glass, that doesn’t work. Anyway, this is just a prototype, and the nice thing about all this is that if you’re not happy with the result you can always undo and re-make it for as many times as you wish! 🙂

If there’s anyone out there that, by chance, is reading this, please, tell me your opinion. I would really appreciate it. Thank you! 🙂

It looks like black but it is blue

These are some of my earlier works. Despite the dark glass beads may seem to be black they are actually a very dark blue.

Miss Doronjo’s earings

4 Sep

I made this pair of earings for my friend Paola’s 10 years old daughter, Marta, who is very much into skulls and such.

As I saw the little skulls I immediately thought they looked like something Miss Doronjo, from the Yattaman anime, would wear. 🙂

Granny’s beads

29 Aug

My new passion for beading has its origins with an old garnet necklace of my late grandmother. The necklace was damaged and it was basically worn-out. So I had all these garnet beads laying around in a small box waiting for something to happen.

And something did really happen: one day last month, as I was shopping at my local market, I found at a stand some findings and components and I thought “why not give it a try?” And here is the result. Well, it shows all the signs of my inexperience, but that’s a start.

BTW the earings are made with some flat garnet beads I have been given by a colleague of mine: she had only 8/9 beads and she didn’t know what to do with them… but I did! 🙂

Busy Summer

28 Aug

I might have been lazy with my blog but not with my hobbies and such. Actually I’ve also added some new ones such as DIY earings and bracelets. So, in order to keep them in order (if you’ll excuse the pun), I made this organiser with some tulle framed with some fabric left from my previous project. I have been thinking about it for a while and it is actually very handy!

BTW, all the earings and bracelets on display have been made by me as well. 🙂
