A birthday gift

31 Jul

Here is the necklace I made for my friend Paola’s birthday. Since she expressed her admiration for this necklace here, I decided to make one especially for her. I didn’t have enough blue glass beads so I used green glass beads of the same shape instead.

A gift

19 Jun

I made this necklace, which is a variation of this one here, as a gift for a friend’s birthday. It is made with hammered copper wire and glass beads…

Blue glass

7 Jun

Here’s a new necklace I made with some copper wire and light blue glass beads. I really like the contrast among the two colours.
I hammered and shaped the copper wire and added the beads. Very simple!

Copper and hammer

I’m still working with copper wire and hammer….. this time I made some earrings…. I still have to work on my hammering skills!

Heart bracelet

3 Mar

Here’a a little bracelet I made during the weekend. Easy and quick it is made with a silver heart shaped pendant, a couple of cultivated pearls, pink glass beads and purple agate beads.

I really like the heart shaped pendant and since I have some others left, I’m planning to make quite few things with them….

Chainmaille earings

19 Feb

Since I’ve been trying to get more accustomed with this Chainmaille technique, I decided to made this pair of earings. They’re made with silver jump rings and light blue glass beads. The effect is quite nice but I’m not sure whether I’m going to wear them myself because they are not exactly my “style“….

The Yoga teacher’s bracelet

15 Oct

While on holidays on beautiful Fuerteventura Island I decided to make this Chan-luu bracelet as gift to my lovely Yoga teacher, Sally. I decide to use some of the colours of the island that I love most: sand white lether cord for the big sand dunes beaches near Corralejo, and light blue/dark blue glass beads for the sky and the Ocean, while the black thread stands for the volcanic soil and stones.  I’m happy that Sally liked it and I think I’ll make one for myself too. 😉

Compass bracelet

28 Aug

I’ve read somewhere in the web that Iolite stone was used in past times by mariners as a compass to guide their way to sea… apparently they noted that it would show different hues of blue-violet when held to the northern and southern skies. I didn’t know this before making this bracelet, but I think now it is a kind of a sign, as I’m leaving for a journey very soon… So, I’m definitely bringing this bracelet with me!

Along with iolite stone chips I used some bright light blue glass beads.

I’ve just realised that my subconscious probably guided me in making this bracelet since it has the colours of the sea I’m about to sail… (see here)

Birthday gift

17 Apr

So, today is my birthday and every year I try to take this day off from work to avoid stress and have a relaxing day all for myself.

And today I used my very well deserved free time for making myself a birthday gift.  🙂

I had a small piece of light pink 50% viscose/50% cotton fabric with a kind of beehive weaving that I cut from the sleeves of a t-shirt because they were too long, and I wanted to do something out of it for a very long time.

I actually never wore the t-shirt, but I think I’m going to wear this bracelet…

I added some charms: an owl to make me wiser (I really need it despite my growing age…), a little rabbit with the word “fuku engraved on it (which stands for blessing, fortune, luck, wealth… you choose!), a little bell to protect from bad spirits (you never have enough protection!), and  a pink glass bead (for a girly touch…).

I quite like it and I think I’m going to wear it pretty often… despite the noise from the bell… 🙂  ..or maybe because of it. 😀

Candlelight

31 Jan

As I was practising with my crochet I hit on a shell edging tutorial and  decided to give it a try.

I also had a couple of glass jam jars that I was reluctant to throw away (read “recycle”), so it came to my mind that I could upcycle them adding a nice edging and transforming them into candle-holders.

Using some cotton yarn that I already had I first made the red edging and then, when I felt more confident and adventurous, I crocheted the white/red one. 🙂
