Last craft of 2015

4 Jan

Here is my last craft work for 2015: a necklace/bracelet that you can wear in many ways: as a long necklace, as a “2 rounds” necklace, as a chocker (3 rounds), or as a bracelet (multi-rounds!!!).

You choose. 🙂

BTW Happy New Year to all my (few) blog-followers. 🙂

Just another summer bracelet

18 Aug

I have been very lazy this Summer but at least I sometimes found the inspiration – and the strenght –  to make something. This is how I came up with this bracelet.

It is made with gold painted beads and light blue glass beads and black cotton string. It was quite easy and I wish I had more beads with larger holes to make other bracelets… or a thinner string….

Seaside bracelet

22 Jun

I made this bracelet for a fair my friend Paola partecipated in. Apparently it didn’t have much success… just like all my other bracelets…. but I don’t care much: I like it, and that’s all. The colours of the glassbeads and the golden findings make me think of some nice place at the seaside….

Sky blue bracelet

12 Mar

Yesterday evening, as I was watching Fernando Verdasco playing Richard Gasquet at the Master1000 Indian Wells tournament, I came up with this bracelet. It is made with dyed Jade pale blue beads, and golden wire, with my favourite rosary technique.

PS …perhaps the sky blue colour was inspired by Verdasco’s t-shirt…. (see next post!)

I made this amethyst and pearl necklace for a friend as Christmas gift too. Unlike my previous ones this is a choker.

Pink jade Chan-luu

1 Jul

Two weekends ago I went for a short break in Umbria with my friend Paola‘s family and friends and we were (Paola and I) supposed to carve out some time for ourselves to brush up on the Chan-luu tecnique and make a new bracelet.

Of course we didn’t have time to do so, but since I had all the material ready I decided to make one on my own.

I used some golden/bronze leather string along with pink Jade multifaceted 4 mm beads and gold plated glazed beads. I also modified the tecnique a bit compared to my first Chan-luu. Instead of starting with a loop (the button hole), I begun with introducing the button first. While I left some string unused in the end so to have an adjustable locking.

I think it works better!

Birthday gift

25 Jun

Here is a necklace I made for my friend Simona’s birthday.  Some time ago she expressed her admiration for one of my older work that you can see here. So I thought to make a similar one for her birthday.

I used blue crystals, red agate, amethyst, Korean jade, smoked crystal and red crystal.

Chinese jade

10 Apr

Some time ago I bought a lovely Chinese jade pendant and all this time I’ve been thinking about how to use it.

I’ve always loved jade pendants from the very first time I saw a Pounamu from New Zealand Maori tradition but I haven’t been able to go and buy one so far…. I actually bought a beef bone maori pendant called “koru” few years ago at the Manly Sunday market in Australia, from a kiwi guy who hand carved it himself. His carvings were so beautiful that it took me quite some time to decide what to buy!  Anyway, since my dream to own a maori Pounamu is still far I decided to at least get me a lovely Chinese jade pendant in the meantime.

So, in the end I decided to make a gold chain using 8 pink quartz beads on both side (see why 8 beads in this post here), and adding an upcycled gold chain from an old and broken necklace that I’ve been given by a friend. I also matched the necklace with a pair of earings made with the same pink quartz beads and a green fluorite rice shaped bead.

Christmas collection

28 Dec

So, as Christmas has finally arrived and gone, at last I can publish some photos of my “Christmas Collection”…. the bracelets are made of golden wire, pale pink and black half crystals and various stones… as my skills improve I think I’ll be opting for golden plated wire since this simple golden coloured wire, I’m afraid, tends to oxidise….

Pink Shamballa

27 Nov

Some time ago I bought some pink/fuchsia silk cord with the idea to make a Shamballa bracelet with it. Finally I have found some gold beads with a large hole that looked like they could match well with the string. And here is the result. I bit unusual, but I like it. Moreover I realized that working with silk string is a lot easier than using waxed cotton cord.
