Christmas gift part 2

29 Dec

After my first “Christmas gifts post” here is my second creation which is of a different kind: a crocheted infinity scarf…

Two spins is the ideal….

2 rounds

… also one spin is acceptable.

No rounds

But I wouldn’t reccomend “no spins” at all….

Snake scarf

14 Jan

Here is a scarf I made for Paola as Christmas gift. I used the same wool as the one for her daughter Marta’s, so to have a mother-daughter matching scarves. 🙂 Because of all its spirals it reminds me of a snake! It took me quite a while to crochet and the result is a bit funny.

A neckwarmer for the cold

14 Jan

My friend Paola –  yes, the very same Paola from my previous posts –  is not shy at expressing what she likes that’s why she gets many handmade presents from me! 😉  So, since she liked a scarf and hat that I crocheted last month for myself (and that I haven’t posted yet), I thought that I might make good use of the yarn leftovers and make her a neck-warmer for the cold Winter.

I got the pattern from this amazing website called Garnstudio-DROPS Design, and I added a little shell edging that I learnt from a tutorial on Crochet Spot. I think the result is nice enough to be handed to my friend with no shame on my side. 🙂

Spending review Xmas gifts

4 Dec

As Christmas is approaching, in these hard times of economic crisis, you have to find alternative gifts. So here is my “spending review” first gift: a crocheted scarf for my daddy (who’s not going to see this blog ever so I can publish it light-heartedly!) Not too bad for a first serious attempt with the crochet, but I can certainly improve! 🙂

Autumn crochet project

12 Nov

As Autumn has already arrived – sob! sob! 😦 -, I felt the need to work with something warm… and as I found some lovely light blue yarn at my local Saturday market, I decided that it was about time for me to brush up on my crochet hook.

I’m not particularly good at it, and I asked my mom to show me how to crochet few times in the past (she’s very good at it but she’s also terribly lazy and never-ever finishes her works!) but I’ve always ended up in creating stitches on my own!

But this time I decided to do things properly and I looked on the internet for crochet tutorials and begun with this simple scarf.

Anyway, the most difficult part of it is not to learn how to stich but how to read crochet patterns! This website, Crochet Spot, has been very helpful both for this purpose and also for the free patterns and tutorials.

Stay tuned for the updates of this project! 🙂

PS I also liked that the yarn is for a 10% composed of bamboo! Never seen this before but I think this is very Red-Panda oriented! 😀

My Autumn project: a warm crochet scarf. SO FAR SO GOOD!
