Here is another project I made last weekend. Again I used some remnant of my “cushion-project” here. I’m not completely satisfied with it… I even forgot to add flaps on both to make it easier to zip/unzip. Anyway, next time I’m going to try to make a case with the end tabs of the zipper too!
Crossbody travel bag
27 AugMy latest addition to my bag collection is this crossbody bag I purposely made for my upcoming holidays…. I needed a small – but not too small – bag to keep my passport, cell-phone, boarding card, etc… at hand, that could also be easily put away in a bigger bag (see here). So I used some Ikea fabric for the outside while the lining is a reminder I bought at my local market some time ago. The shoulder strap is recycled from an old bag, but since it’s black and doesn’t match with the fabric enough, I will probably replace it with a strap made of the very same fabric.
I also added a zip, to keep the precious things safely inside, a big pocket in the front with a hidden magnetic button, and a smaller pocket in the back. There’s also a small pocket inside.
On a second thought I could have used a black zip to match the recycled strap… mmmhh…. 😕
Paola’s bag
2 AugNext week is my friend Paola‘s birthday and since she once told me that she needs a Summer shoulder bag for when she goes motorbiking with her hubby I decided to make one as a present. This is actually my first chronologically serious attempt at fabric bags. Even before this one.
So, I found a tutorial on the web and make quite few changes according to my tastes, and I came out with this zipped lined bag, with a flap with magnetic buttons, a rear – always handy – small pocket and adjustable strap. Anyway it has some minor imperfections but I think she’ll find it quite useful. Or at least, I hope so. 🙂
PS as we had an early celebration for her birthday yesterday, due to the forthcoming Summer holidays, she has already been given her present… so, no spoiler here. 😉

Spring case
26 MarAfter the Easter gifts for my friends I decided – of course! – to make a case for myself as well. I was really envious about those lovely cases… ehehehe!
Again I used some Ikea fabric for the outer shell while the lining is a reminder I bought at my local market. The zip is light blue which, I think, goes well with the blue dots on the fabric.
I really enjoy matching the zip with the fabric. eheheheh! 🙂 I also used a blue thread to sew it just to add a bit of “extra” flair…. 😎
Easter gifts
25 MarHere are two fabric cases – cosmetic cases, that I made for my friends as Easter gifts.
The outer fabric is from Ikea, while the lining is a reminder I bought at my local market. Despite the fabric is the same, I tried to match the stripes with the colour of the zip (one beige and the other pink).
It was my first attempt with a lined item, so I can say that I’m pretty satisfied and most of all, learning the lining process has opened a whole new world in front of me… 🙂
BTW, for a more Easter touch I filled the cases with some fine chocolate eggs…

The toothbrush pouch
6 MarFollowing this useful tutorial I made myself a brand new pouch for my toothbrush and toothpaste to keep in my drawer at work. The fabric is a remnant of my previous project while the zip is upcycled from an old bag.
I changed the measures to fit in the toothbrush and the result is definitely better than expected!
Boxy pouches for two
5 MarLast Sunday afternoon me and my friend Paola decided to give it a try to this lovely tutorial and make ourselves a boxy pouch each. We cut and misured and then I took out my faithfull sewing machine and made it!
Paola’s fabric (blue with white drops) was a bit lighter than mine (blue with white leaves), so the result is not just alike.
Despite, in the end we were both happy with the result, I decided make some small changes and unpicked the sides to add some flaps on both to make it easier to zip/unzip. 🙂
