This necklace is a birthday gift for a friend. I used gold tinted chain and rosary style chain made with Chalcedony chips. I added a gold spacer and a pearl as a pendant and I interspersed the chains with red ruby agate beads.
You are Gold!
22 FebI have recently been asked to make a necklace for a lady who loves flashy accessories. I have a totally different style so it was a bit difficult to find a reasonable compromise. I also find it difficult to mix and match the right stones, especially the big ones, but this time I think the result is quite nice.
I used some black chrystal and glass beads of different shapes and dimensions, some black and white tinted jade beads and few light blue oval agate beads. And, of course, plenty of gold toned spacers.
PS the stamped tag is also made by me…. (see a previous post here).
Earrings for me
20 FebJust a couple of cute earrings that I made for myself. I don’t like big flashy earrings and I always prefer a simple design. These are made with a white glass bead, two golden brass disks, a purple chrystal and, of coruse, some brass wire.
Chrystal power
19 FebI never fail to come back with some inspirations from my holidays in Fuerteventura, as the craft-market is very lively there, and there are plenty of wonderful craftsmen and craftswomen making beautiful things.
This necklace has been inspired by one of those craftswomen…. Chrystal stone and macramè technique.
Lazy midsummer Sunday afternoon
23 JulOn a lazy midsummer Sunday afternoon I decided to learn a new technique: Kumihimo.
“Kumihimo (組み紐) is a Japanese form of braid-making. Cords and ribbons are made by interlacing strands. Kumi himo is Japanese for “gathered threads”.
Since I don’t have a professional Kumihimo disc I cut one out of cardboard and used 7 threads. You actually can use up to 24 bobbins.
The result is this colourful bracelet….
Pearls bracelet
22 MayI made this pearls bracelet to match with the necklace and earrings from my previous post. Not much to say here except that the pearls were beautiful so it was an easy job. 🙂
Reshaped pearl necklace
21 MaySome time ago a friend asked me to reshape her aunt’s pearl necklace which she thought was a bit over the top. So we agreed to make a long necklace instead with the pendant pearls and some other pearls from the old matching bracelet she had.
I was able to make the necklace, a pair of earrings and a little bracelet too. (check my next post for the bracelet).
Uninspired necklace
7 MayI made this necklace some time ago for a friend’s birthday. It’s a very simple necklace made with chrystals, black glass beads, blue calcite stones, orange (I don’t remember which) stones, cultivated pearls and chain.
I’m sorry to say that I don’t think it’s one of my best handiwork as I wasn’t particularly inspired. Nonetheless it has been apparently appreciated….
Rainbow necklace
2 MayThis collar necklace is made mainly with 6mm dyed jade beads, a “Zama” golden spacer and brass wire.
It is a custom made order for a friend’s sister who saw something similar and asked if I could make a replica. Thankfully, since I am a fan of tiny beads I had plenty of colourful stones to use.
Of course it differs from the original basically because it’s not easy to find the exact raw materials but it’s as similar as possible, and most of all, it has been appreciated by the recipient. 🙂
Golden necklace
3 AprHere is a long necklace I made on request from a friend. It was a Christmas gift for someone who likes showy ornaments…. It was a bit difficult for me because I normally like smaller and more delicate items but in the end I think this is an agreeable compromise.
Made of semi precious stones (tinted jade, turquoise) and cultivated pearl, along with brass chain and “zamak” spacers. The packaging is also handmade.
